AT&T customers are not very happy campers. Ma Bell has been ranking last in customer service satisfaction, among major carriers. And the latest news might make them get just a bit more upset. AT&T has decided to double its upgrade fee to $36.

This fee alteration will take place come February 12th, and has been confirmed by AT&T, after Engadget reached out to the carrier. So next time you get a shiny new smartphone, you will have to pocket out an extra $18.

This might not be a reason to leave AT&T, but in combination with its latest (pricier) data plans, some users might just be looking for the door. Here is what AT&T has to say about the matter:

Wireless devices today are more sophisticated than ever before. And because of that, the costs associated with upgrading to a new device have increased and is reflected in our new upgrade fee. This fee isn’t unique to AT&T and this is the first time we’re changing it in nearly 10 years.

What do you guys say? Will this increased fee make your next upgrade much less enjoyable, or do you not mind the extra $18?
