At E3, I waited nearly two hours to play Nintendo’s Wii U. It was worth every leg cramp. Most fans thought they’d be playing the console by at least summer, but it looks like it won’t come out until the 2012 holiday season.

Nintendo To See First Annual Loss In 30 Years, iPhone Partially To Blame

Gaming giant Nintendo has posted a nearly one billion dollar loss for the six month period ending September 30th, reports Electronista, and expects to post their first annual loss in more than three decades.
The company has netted a lost of $70.27 billion yen (about $923 million) in the first fiscal half, which they blame on a variety of factors, including declining Wii sales and a weak global economy. They also blamed one other factor – the iPhone and other mobile platforms.
Nintendo President Satoru Iwata acknowledged that smartphones and tablets are taking up more of consumers’ leisure time, although what he doesn’t note is that much of this is due to the fact that smartphones and tablets are not only more capable than game consoles – the games are also substantially less expensive.
While this may be Nintendo’s first big loss in 30 years, I think it’s safe to say that it won’t be their last.

Char Nintendo 3DS Premium Box

Namco Bandai has decided to bundle SD Gundam G Generation 3D with a 3DS in special design. Dubbed as the “Char Nintendo 3DS Premium Box”, the bundle consists of a copy of the game, several accessories (an AC adapter, a 2GB memory card, etc.), a red Nintendo 3DS, and a Gundam Tri Age AR card featuring a Char Zack II Mobile Suit. The Char Nintendo 3DS Premium Box will be launched in Japan on December 22, 2011 for $288.

CTA Digital Deluxe Power Grip For Nintendo 3DS

CTA Digital has unveiled the Deluxe Power Grip that will provide more juice for the Nintendo 3DS. The device has a built-in battery that can be recharge using the included USB cable or the original 3DS AC adapter. The LED light indicator on the power grip will turn from red to blue when the grip is fully charged.
