Apple Releases Second Update for OS X Mountain Lion Developer Preview 3
May 16th
As noted by 9to5Mac, Apple has just released an update for OS X Mountain Lion DP3 – their second update to the third developer preview. It’s unclear what changes the update may contain, as Apple has not offered any release notes with the update.

It’s also unclear why Apple continues to release updates for Mountain Lion Developer Preview 3 instead of releasing a fourth developer preview. It’s also odd that Apple hasn’t listed changes for either of the two updates to DP3. The current build number is now up to 12A206j.
My suspicion is that Apple is preparing another major update to the developer preview that will include features unveiled at WWDC in June, and that Apple is simply pushing critical stability and performance updates to developers in the meantime.
The update is available through Software Update for those who have Mountain Lion DP3 installed, although the update is not currently showing in Apple’s developer portal.
We’ll be digging around in Mountain Lion today to see if we can see anything new – please let us know if you notice any changes!

Blizzard Releases Diablo III
May 16th
It’s been over a decade in coming, but Diablo III has finally arrived! Blizzard Entertainment finally released the long-anticipated next chapter in their Diablo series this morning, and the game is available immediately direct from Blizzard and at a variety of other venues.

From Blizzard:
Twenty years have passed since the Prime Evils were defeated and banished from the world of Sanctuary. Now, you must return to where it all began – the town of Tristram – and investigate rumors of a fallen star, for this is the first sign of evil’s rebirth, and an omen that the End Times have begun…
It’s not often that major game studios release titles for the Mac at the same time the PC version is released, making today’s release of Diablo III especially significant. Not a lot of attention is paid to gaming on the Mac, and it’s refreshing to see one of the big dogs nodding in Apple’s direction.
Even better, a single license for Diablo III can be used on both the Mac and the PC – whichever platform you choose! System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.6.8 or later, Intel Core 2 Duo-equipped Mac with Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT or ATI Radeon HD 2600 or better, 2GB RAM, and 12GB hard disk space.
Diablo III is available immediately both as a digital download from Blizzard, and as a boxed title from Amazon.com and other vendors. Personally, I’d recommend snagging a boxed copy, as I appreciate the booklets and other various goodies often included in the package!

ASUS releases official Padfone demo video – are you getting one?
May 13th

The ASUS Padfone is arguably the most innovative device of CES (it even got a price for it). Just how far will it get, though? ASUS has definitely managed to build a great reputation for itself, in the Android community. But if you aren’t already anticipating this release, ASUS is hoping to change that with the latest demo video, which displays all the awesome features the smartphone/tablet/netbook provides.
All in all, the device seems to offer some great functionality and unified ecosystem. The fact that is is manufactured by ASUS also means that it will probably be getting updates in a very timely fashion. Something that has become a huge deciding factor when picking an Android device.
We still do not know if/when this device will hit the US, but it is nearing its International launch. If you would like us to send you a notification when it goes live, don’t forget to sign up for it in our Phone Guide. But tell us, are you hoping to get your hands all over one of these?
