Experience The Super Bowl This Year on the Internet and Your Mobile Device for the First Time
Dec 20th

One of the biggest events on television is now going to be broadcast on the internet and your mobile devices. The NFL announced Tuesday that the Super Bowl will be streamed online and to mobile devices for the first time. NBC’s broadcasts of wild card Saturday, the Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl are said to be available on the league’s and network’s web sites as well as also being available through Verizon’s NFL Mobile app.
Additional camera angles, in-game highlights and live stats, and replays of the popular Super Bowl commercials will also be available with this service. While NBC has been streaming Sunday Night Football telecasts for four seasons, they found that it’s not just being used by those who can’t wait it on television but also by those using the service to compliment watching the games on TV. That may be the case this year as well.
Given that the Super Bowl is the biggest television attraction annually, last year’s viewing drew a record 111 million U.S. viewers, adding this option to smartphones and the internet seems like a no brainer. Hans Schroeder, the NFL’s senior vice president of media strategy and development, told The Associated Press. “
“Whether it’s just for a quarter if somebody has to run out to the store to get something they forgot, now they can stay connected to the game,With such a big television audience, it will be interesting to see the expanded reach.”
NBC’s Sunday night streams average 200-300 thousand viewers typically compared to the 21 million that telecasts bring in. However there is no evidence that shows that it hurts traditional broadcasts’ TV ratings. In fact, the extra options online may help keep fans watching telecasts. According to Rick Cordella, vice president and general manager for NBC Sports Digital Media:
“We don’t want to limit ourselves to people not in front of the TV. The playoffs are appointment viewing. People schedule their day around it.”
Both the NFL and NBC will be doing extensive research to see how many people exactly are using the streams and to see how many fans want to watch the Super Bowl each year but aren’t able to be in front of a TV.
So what about you guys? Is this something you will be using to supplement your NFL viewing?

HP to Ignite TouchPad Fire Sale One Last Time
Dec 8th
Here we go again! HP is getting ready to launch another TouchPad “fire sale” only this time, through their eBay store. This sale was originally meant for HP employees to get first “dibs” on the device but since the internal company email was leaked – Game on.
The discontinued TouchPad will again go on sale for $100 for the 16GB version and $150 for the 32GB model. Also to be offered during the sale is a $79 accessory bundle which includes a case, charging dock and wireless keyboard. You can find them in the laptop section of the site. All TouchPads will be refurbished but still come with a 90 warranty. Don’t forget you can hack it to run Android too!
Now I assume you want me to tell you when the sale starts, right? You know that by me telling you when the sale starts reduces my chances of getting one for my mom for Christmas, don’t you? And I don’t like to disappoint my Momma. But… since I like you guys so much I am willing to take my chances and let you in on the little secret. The deal starts on December 11th at 6pm (CT) so you better be on time! I will be ready and waiting, 2 Red Bulls deep, ready to take out any fool in my way. Good luck and God speed, friends!
